I like to share.
Also, I like tank tops, yoga, people who sponsor me for fights, paying it forward and making a difference.
Oh what a kawinky-dink! This post has ALL OF THE ABOVE.
There is a new clothing line called POSER. They juuuuust hit the web and are getting their feet on the ground. They have agreed to help ME for my next fight, if I can help THEM spread the word about a worthy cause that they are supporting. See how big their hearts are already? Helping me AND helping others. Read on, my dear.
Right now and right through to the end of the year, POSER is donating ALL PROCEEDs – yes, you read that right, ALL PROCEEDS – from sales to a project called the Global Seva Challenge. What the heck is that? Well here, allow me to share.
The Global Seva Challenge is a program that aims to provoke awareness, as well as action, regarding different global issues. They support a different cause each year, and the 2012 project is targeting SEX TRAFFICKING in India.
Think about this for a moment… outside our safe little happy bubble, someone’s son or daughter is being enslaved for sex. It’s sickening.
Want some cold hard numbers and stats on the crisis? I got you… click here.
So, what can you do? What is POSER doing?
Ahem… “never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
POSER is selling these tanks and donating all proceeds to the project in hopes to help raise funds for the cause.
My goal? I want to help them, because they are helping ME and SO MANY OTHERS.
And you? You can too. Buy a tank! We can be twins. 🙂 Or if that’s not quite in your style, you could make a donation directly to the challenge. (At the bottom of the page.) Either acts of kindness would be greatly appreciated.
A couple people have asked me on Facebook how I got involved with this. Well, this is where it gets cool!
My sister Megan is ALSO participating in this challenge. She participated in the 2010 challenge, which was geared towards the AIDS crisis in Africa. She raised over $20,000 alone and then went to Africa with a small group of others, so see exactly what the folks behind the Seva Challenge were using the money for. She was so deeply moved by what she saw when she visited Africa, that she decided to get involved again, this time with the India challenge.
Megan was the one who told me about POSER. She thought with my super duper awesome fan base (you guys are so stinking rad) that I could get the word out. I agreed. Long story short, POSER and I shook hands and here we are.
SO! Let’s think outside our safe little bubbles, shall we? Think big. Think global. And think with your heart. Buy a tank and help make a difference in the lives of others. Sounds huge right? It is. But it’s so worth it.
Sending love, hugs and butt slaps,
ps – You should click here for more information, incase you need more convincing. (Not that you should need any.)
pps – if you want to make a donation, click HERE. In the drop down menu, feel free to use the name Megan Staubin. That way, my sister will get the donation added to her specific tally. Maybe she will beat her total of $20,000 from 2010! 🙂
