Until you forgive, you will keep giving your future to the past.
“Life Loves You” is such a wonderful little book. Easy to read, and full of great wisdom, I can’t get enough of it. I flip through the already read book, and reread the parts I’ve underlined or starred, taking in more of the lessons, more of the wisdom… trying to soak up just a little more from it.
I’d like to share with you a short passage from chapter four.
It’s pretty awesome, but can be a lot to take in if you aren’t ready for this perspective. And that’s okay. You dont have to be ready right now. Just sit with it.
Or hell, disregard it altogether if you aren’t up for this idea. If you are not ready right now, it will make its way back around to you, when the time is right.
Life is pretty cool like that.
The short passage reads:
“…Forgiveness teaches you that, who you truly are has nothing to do with what happened in your past. Your experiences are not your identity. They can have an effect on you, but they do not define you. What you did to another person or what they did to you is not the end of your story. When you can say, ‘I am not my past,’ and ‘I am willing to forgive my past,’ you can create a new future. With forgiveness, a new chapter begins.”
Le sigh. SO good.
I hope that gives you the hope and healing that it gives me.
I am not my past and neither are you.
Sending love, hugs and butt slaps…
